Annuities

Annuities - What Are They?
Annuities are contracts between Savings Bank Life Insurance and you which provide tax deferred interest growth. You make payments into an annuity — either one time, or many times — and we promise to make payments to you for a specific period, or over your entire lifetime. Annuities generally fall into one of two categories: immediate or deferred. Immediate annuities quickly begin making guaranteed payments to you. Deferred annuities generally take longer, but provide you with other important benefits.

Annuities - Why Buy One?
Many people choose annuities for their flexibility and features. Annuities offer a tax-deferred way to save for retirement or other needs. But annuities also have other investment features:

  1. Earn tax-deferred interest.
  2. You can use annuities to provide guaranteed income for life.

The bottom line: Annuities allow you to earn tax-deferred interest — you pay no state or federal taxes as the plan accumulates value. Only when we distribute the funds to you will you have to pay taxes.
