Charitable Foundation, Inc.

Description
The Bridgewater Savings Charitable Foundation, Inc. was created by Bridgewater Savings Bank in 2003 for the support and benefit of community, charitable, educational and other benevolent purposes.

Mission
The mission of the Foundation is to reinforce, encourage, and support the Bank’s ongoing commitment to the well being of the communities it serves. The Foundation will allocate its resources specifically for the advantage of the community at large, including educational and social and human services endeavors.

Geographic Focus
The Bridgewater Savings Charitable Foundation’s financial grants and monetary gifts support non-profit organizations whose work benefits communities served by the Bank.

Grant Making
Directors of the Bridgewater Savings Charitable Foundation evaluate grant requests, review proposals, and make funding decisions. Grants of up to $2,500 are awarded to qualified non-profit organizations, based on demonstrated needs and existing resources. Financial support is contingent on the strength of Bank earnings and the Bank’s ability to make available funds to support its philanthropic endeavors.

Types of Support
Grants will be made for existing program support, general support, special projects, and/or start-up endeavors covering a variety of issues impacting the community.

The Charitable Foundation considers grant proposals from organizations including non-profits as defined in IRS Codes section 501(c) (3). It also accepts applications from organizations serving households in our defined market area; organizations that we have financially supported in the past, organizations that direct services to low- to moderate-income households in our defined market area; organizations that support development and maintenance of housing for low- to moderate-income households in our defined market area; organizations dedicated to improving the quality of community life in our defined market area, and to other organizations whose goals are determined to be consistent with the Foundation’s mission.

The Foundation does not provide funding for individuals, sports, individual schools or religious groups.

How to Apply
Requests for funding should meet the guidelines described above. Proposals should include the following elements:

  • Cover Letter
    Introduce your organization and your proposal. Describe your goals, constituents, community needs to be met, and projected outcomes.
  • Grant Application

  • IRS tax determination letter
    Indicating 501(c) (3) status, if applicable.

Grant Determination
The funding decision may take several weeks to complete. Applicants will be notified of their proposal outcome by mail.
